General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by a JLG lift due to inadvertent movement: (a) Facility; The console control boxes for three JLG scissors lifts, two model 1532s and one model 1932, were illegible in that the control panels were covered with paint overspray. This made it impossible for the operators to be able to read the controls and operational information. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to clean and/or replace the controls so they are clearly marked as to their function in accordance with the lift manufacturer's operational manual.onal
