Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: %% (a) 1000 Massachusetts Avenue, NW - The wedge socket connected to the running rope on a 40 ton P&H truck crane, serial number 38918 was improperly rigged in that dead end was clamped to the running rope. %% One feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, would be to pull the runnign line through the socket leaving a longer tail, then loop it back onto itself and clamp it with the appropriate wire clip.
