Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to overhead loads suspended from cranes: (a). Slab prep operations - Employees were exposed to prefabricated panels suspended over the carpenters work area by a 28 ton Grove crane. (b). Jobsite - Rebar Placement Operations - Employees were exposed to bundles of reinforcing steel which was swung over their heads by a 28 ton Grove crane. Among others, one feasible and useful means of abatement would be to instruct the signal man to signal the crane operator to stop traveling until the swing path is clear of employee exposure.
