Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to physical hazards causing fractures, bruises, and internal injuries: Kimberly-Clark Construction Site - Employees performing vacuuming operations were exposed to the suction of the vacuum nozzle. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to reduce or eliminate employee exposure includes requiring employees to activate the vacuum breaker during hose unclogging operations. Note: This can be accomplished by developing and enforcing a training program which prevents employees from coming into contact with the suction end of the vacuum nozzle.
