Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck by falling portions of the hoisted load or the hoist of the 3 Ton Hitachi underhung crane hoist located in the main shop area: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method for abatement is to ensure that the pendant control boxes are clearly marked for identification of functions in accordance with Paragraph 11-1.11.1(e) of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B30.11-1973, Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes.
