Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by falling portions of the hoisted load or the hoist of the Wright 5 Ton overhead floor operated crane hoist located in the carbon steel shop: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method for abatement is to ensure that the rated load of the crane is plainly marked on each side of the crane bridge in accordance with Paragraph 11-1.1.1 of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B30.11-1973 Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes.
