Section 27a(3)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place
of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely
to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the
hazard of being
caught under vehicles or the lift structure, or being struck by a falling
vehicle, in the event
of hydraulic failure of the twin post Weaver hydraulic lift, Model #
unavailable, Serial #
unavailable, while servicing vehicles in the bus garage.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to equip the lift with a mechanical device to hold the lift in the
fully extended position as
recommended by the American National Standards Institute and the
Automotive Lift Institute
in the industry consensus standard ANSI/ALI B153.1 "Safety Requirements
for the
Construction, Care and Use of Automotive Lifts".  The device should have a
strength factor
of not less than 3, based on the rated load capacity of the lift.
a)Front post safety latch missing full engagement each time (sticking).
b)Rear post safety latch located approximately 1 foot above highest
lifting point.
c)Rear post seal leaking, cylinder pitted and corroded.  Exposes mechanics
to death or
crushing physical injuries.  NOTE:  Model and serial number illegible and
