Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees; and The Rigid pipe threader, series #535, located in the slicing area, was not equipped with a deadsman footswitch to protect the employee from entanglement with the rotating chuck. No method was provided to effectively shut off power to the machine other than the motor control switch.
