Title 40.1-51.1.(a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a) At this site (1115 Main St, Lynchburg, VA), Campbell Brothers General Contractors, Inc. failed to ensure that the chain saw, being used in demolition operations, was started on the ground or where otherwise firmly supported. An employee was observed "drop starting" the chain saw, a recognized hazard. "One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to train employees in the proper method of starting a chain saw."
