40.1-51.1.(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a). The automatic locking device for the Grand lift located in the second automotive bay was not working properly. A string had been rigged to manually set the locking device. One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others to correct this hazard is to adhere to the requirements set forth in ANSI B153.1-1990, Section 7.1.2 that states: "The owner/employer shall maintain and care for the lift to ensure its continued safe operation."
