31-372-101 Section 31-370(a) of the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with downed electrical lines including but not limited to shock and electrocution. Location: (A)(On the Street) 879 Main Street, Somers, CT. (1)Employees were allowed to work in proximity of a downed electrical power line, where direct and/or indirect contact with the line was possible, and verification of de-energization from the system operator had not been achieved. One feasible and acceptable abatement method is for the incident commander to verify, through the system operator, that de-energization of downed power lines has been achieved prior to committing employees to tasks that expose them to that hazard.
