Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the estabhishment: It were observed four (4) instances in which
filtration evidence
from fissured sections on the ceiling and southeast wall structure on the
sixth and seventh
floor of the building where the Regional Workmen Compensation State Fund
Corporation
Office is located, possing the hazards of sprains, strains, contusions and
fractures
from
slipping and falls; and electric shock and electrocution from electrical
tools and
equipment, on rainy days:
a. At the Claims Division Supervisor's office, through fissures in the wall
structure on the upper window seal, located on the seventh floor;
b. Through fissures in the ceiling structure on to the acoustic ceiling,
on the
seventh floor hallway;
c. Through fissures in the ceiling structure on to the acoustic ceiling,
on the sixth
floor hallway and,
d. On the ceiling and wall structure of the males restroom, on the sixth
floor.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to restore anew the ceiling with concrete and sealing compound.
En el establecimiento: Fueron observados cuatro (4) instancias en donde
evidencia por
filtracion de secciones resquebradas en la estructura del techo y pared
del sureste en el
sexto y septimo piso del edificio donde se ubica la Oficina Regional de la
Corporacion
del Fondo del Seguro del Estado, los cuales constituyen un riesgo de
dislocaciones,
luxaciones, contusiones y fracturas por resbalones y caidas; y choques
electricos y
electrocucion por heramientas y equipo electrico, en dias lluviosos:
a. En la oficina de la Supervisora de la Division de Reclamacion, a traves
de
resquebraduras de la estructura de la pared sobre el marco de la ventana,
ubicada
en el septimo piso;
b. A traves de resquebraduras en la estructura del techo al techo
acustico, del
pasillo del septimo piso;
c. A traves de resquebraduras en la estructura del techo al techo
acustico, del
pasillo del sexto piso y,
d. En la estructura del techo y pared del bano de caballeros, en el sexto
piso.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo accesible y aceptable para este riesgo es
reparar de
nuevo el techo con cemento y compuesto sellador.
