Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the B Terminal baggage claim area: The elimination of the air interchange plenum of the air conditioned system with the purpose to create a promotion representatives office for passengers service by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, promoted an operative change toward a closed-directed air recirculation system that caused an increase in the relative humidity and condensation on the ventilation ducts, which filtered out and saturated the isolation material ducts increasing its weight with the potential to collapse and fall, which exposed the employees to the hazard of head and body traumas and or serious injuries. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to start doing strategies and get underway engineering controls to replace the air interchange plenum and replace anew the isolating material of the ventilating ducts. En el area de reclamo de equipaje del Terminal B: La eliminacion del pleno de intercambio de aire del sistema de aire acondicionado con el proposito de crear una oficina de representantes de promocion para el servicio a los pasajeros por la Compania de Turismo de Puerto Rico, promovio un cambio operativo hacia un sistema de recirculacion de aire cerrado-directo que causo un incremento en la humedad relativa y condensacion en los conductos de ventilacion, la cual se filtro y saturo el material aislante de los conductos de ventilacion, incrementando su peso con potencial de colapsar y caer, lo cual expuso a los empleados al riesgo de traumas y/o lesiones serias de la cabeza y el cuerpo. Entre otros metodos, un metodo accesible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es poner en practica estrategias e iniciar controles de ingenieria para reconstruir el pleno de intercambio de aire y reemplazar de nuevo el material aislante de los conductos de ventilacion.
