Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the Family Department - Guaynabo II, on the building's second floor, at the steel stairs located at the rear of the building, the stair's rest was observed rusted and with holes. The holes and most rusted area of the stair's rest, were observed on the edge, next to the stair's steps. From the rusted rest to the next lower rest there were eight steps, each one having seven inches and a half height. There are approximately five feet from the rest, on the building's second floor, to the next lower rest. These stairs are an employee's access to their working area. Hazard: Fall Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct is to weld a steel planch on top of the stair's rest. En el Departamento de la Familia - Guaynabo II, en el segundo piso del edificio, en las escaleras de metal de la parte trasera del edificio, se observo el descanso de las escaleras oxidado y con huecos. Los huecos y la parte mas oxidada del descanso de las escaleras fueron observados en el borde contiguo a los escalones. Desde el descando oxidado al proximo descanso inferior habian ocho escalones, cada uno con una altura de siete pulgadas y media. Habian cinco pies aproximados, de alturas vertical, entre el descanso del segundo piso al proximo descanso inferior. Estas escaleras con un acceso de los empleados a su area de trabajo. Riesgo: Caida Entre otros metodos, factible y aceptable de correccion seria soldar una plancha de metal sobre el descanso de las escaleras.
