Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At Grand Store, in the warehouse, employees dispatched merchandise located
in broken
shelves at a height over the head. The shelves had been deteriorated by
the termites.
Hazard: Employees exposed to fallen objects.
A feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard:
1-Change the wood shelves and implement an effective verming control plan
against termites.
2-Change the wood shelves to metal shelves.
En "Grand Store", en el almacen, empleados despachando mercancia ubicada
en tablillas de
madera rotas a una altura sobre la cabeza. Las tablillas habian sido
deterioradas por el comejen.
Riesgo: Empleados expuestos a objetos que caen.
Un metodo aceptable y practico para corregir este riesgo:
1-Cambiar las tablillas de madera e implementar un plan para el control de
sabandijas efectivo contra el comejen.
2-Cambiar las tablillas de madera por tablillas de metal.las
