Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) An uncontrolled natural gas leak beneath the concrete floor of the
pipe shop which could have resulted in a natural gas explosion:
a) Five employee carrying out various duties in the area designated as
the pipe shop were exposed to the potential explosion hazard
(5/30/86).
Feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard, among others,
would be:
1) Total evacuation of the building containing the pipe shops.
2) Repair of the gas line to eliminate the leak.
3) Shutting off the flow of gas through the pipe.
