AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO
CORRECT THE HAZARD IS TO CONDUCT ROUTINE INSPECTIONS OF EACH TAILGATE
LIFT BY FOLLOWIN THE MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS AS SPECIFICALLY OUTLINED
IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL PUBLISHED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROPRIATE
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION PROCEDURES SHALL BE ADHERED TO, TO
DETERMINE UNSAFE CONDITIONS, SUCH AS, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE FRAYING
OF ANY OF THE LIFTING CABLES. ALL DEFICIENCIES NOTED MUST BE RECORDED
AND CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN.
