Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A) BEING STRUCK BY OVERPRESSURIZED GENERAL WATER FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, MODEL WS-900, WHICH WERE STORED IN THE WAREHOUSE, TRUCK MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, AND WERE BEING USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING COMPRESSED AIR AT 100 LBS. PRESSURE FOR CLEANING PURPOSES. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO DISCONTINUE THIS PRACTICE OF IMPROPERLY USING A GENERAL WATER FIRE EXTINGUISHER FOR TRANSPORTING COMPRESSED AIR. EXTINGUISHERS APPROVED FOR THIS PURPOSE SHALL BE USED.
