Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by a moving conveyor. The conveyor was not was not equipped with an emergency stop device on the top section of the conveyor. (a)On or about 6/18/96, Sorting area The Mayfram steel belt conveyor on the Harris HRB baler was not equipped with an operable emergency stop pull cord at the top platform where employees sort the newspapers. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to remove the hazard is to repair the emergency stop pull cord located at the top platform section of the Mayfram steel belt conveyor as required in ASME B.20.1-1993, Section 5.11.2.(c).,
