General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Production area, next to the Verson Press Brake, repairs or replacements were not provided promptly for the safe operation of the 1 ton jib hoist in that one complete strand of the running rope was broken off thereby exposing employees to being struck by a falling load of 300-400 pound dies. A feasible and useful method to correct this hazard, among other available methods, is the immediate replacement of the running rope in accordance with original manufacturer's specifications.
