The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads and/or lift parts when servicing and/or repairing vehicles in Service Department using a semihydraulic Twin Post Select-ALift, Serial Number 3FM 183, Model Number EL-202, rated capacity 11,000 lbs., used to elevate vehicles. An automatic mechanical device was not provided to hold the lift in fully extended positions at rated load capacity. AMONG OTHER METHODS. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROVIDE AN AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL DEVICE TO HOLD THE LIFT IN THE FULLY EXTENDED POSITION AT RATED LOAD CAPACITY.
