Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Employees are exposed to infection following lancing, draining, and in some cases debridement of blisters incurred through inadvertent skin contact with Phenyl Mercuric Acetate dust, when blisters are broken by advanced first aiders. This occured on July 7, 1989 and July 27, 1989, Reference "Advance First Aid and Emergency Care" by The American National Red Cross, p113 treatment of second degree burns.
