Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a. Employees at the #1 and #2 maintenance and storage buildings were engaged in a roofing operation. Employees were observed working on the leading edge and sides of the roof with no means of suitable fall protection, thus exposing employees to injures from falls to 16-22 feet, on or about July 21, 22 and 28, 1992. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to include lifelines, standard railing, or other means of fall protection.
