Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to a crushing hazard:
a)  Bay 3 - Improperly inspected and maintained dover automotive
rotary Hydraulic lifts are leaking Hydraulic fluid from Piston
Gasget seals which could cause a failure of the lift resulting
in a crushing hazard to employees working beneath it.
Observed 6/12/92
b)  Bay 4 - A single Piston Dover corporation rotary lift safety
latch failed to dunction when the hydraulic lift was in the
raised position.  The locking mechanism was rusted in an
inoperable position.  Observed 6/12/92
Abatement Note:  One feasable method to abate these conditions
would be to require daily inspections of te lifts in order to
maintain and care for the lifts to ensure their continued safe
operation in accordance with ANSI B 15.1 - 1990 section 7.1.2
