Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to direct contact with compressed air: a) Plant 8 - Employees used compressed air to clean their clothing, glasses, faces, hair, etc., exposing them-selves to eye and ear injuries and the introduction of air into the bloodstream, on or about January 16, 1990. Among other methods, one feasible and usefuel method to abate the alleged violation is to prohibit this practice and to substitute a vaccum cleaner system of cleaning dust from the employees.
