Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A) St. John Bosco Church Construciton Site - Employees working near the altar area of the chruch were securing pipe sections while standing atop and 8" concrete block wall 25 coarses above the concrete floor (approximately 17'). No means of fall protection were utilized thereby exposing employee to injury in the event of a fall. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is for employee to utilize a safety belt and lanyard tied off to a stable building member.
