Section 5(a)(1) of the Ocucupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
fall hazards:
A) Jobisite employees were observed installing composition
shingles on a 20 to 28 foot high pitched roof without fall
protection thus being exposed to injury from falls, on or about
November 14, 1990.
Among other methos, one feasible and acceptable abatement mehtod to
correct this hazard is to wear a safety belt/harness attached to a
lanyard connected to a static line and/or substantial structural member.
