Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not adequately trained in the recognition and avoidance of safety hazards associated with working with a robot system such as, but not limited to, rotating parts, pinch points, component malfunctions, and hazards of stored energy: a. Mold Department, Mold Machines 16, 17, 18, and 19 - The maintenance personnel working on the robotic mold machines were not adequately trained in the recognition and avoidance of safety hazards associated with robot systems. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the training recommendations contained in an applicable safety standard such as the American National Standards Institute R15.06-1986 for industrial robots and robot systems - safety requirements.
