Section 5 (a)(1):of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a pace of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that emp
loyee were exposed to a fall hazard in that employer did not prohibit the
use of planks on the
work platform of the scissors lift for achieving additional height. (See
ANSI A92.6-1979
section 14.2.6):
a)  West Avenue School, addition construction site, West Avenue,
Bridgeton, NJ
Employee (1) standing on a 2"x10" plank positioned on the scissors lifts
midrail
above the working platform was not provided with fall protection. Among
other
methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this
hazard is to
ensure that work is performed while standing firmly on the platform as
prescribed in
ANSI A92.6-1979 for self propelled elevating work platforms, sections
14.2.6
and
14.3.B.
