Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Working on the roof with a pitch of greater than 4 in 12 without being provided proper fall protection. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, used by this industry are: 1) A catch platform installed below the roof area. 2) Use of approved safety belts and lanyards.
