Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee was permitted to ride load on lift truck from ground to roof. Employee was exposed to fall of twenty (20) feet to ground below: a) Building Number 4 - Employee was lifted to roof by "Gradall" Material handler, Serial Number 86448776. Observed 2/27/87. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use ladders or stairs to reach the roof.
