Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of uncontrolled vehicles rolling and falling onto them. (a) Mountain State Ford, Alignment Pit: On or about Aug. 26, 1993 an employee was subject to serious injury or death due to a vehicle rolling, uncontrolled, off the alignment machine without the use of safety chocks. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to assure that chocks are used at all times when the vehicles are on the alignment machine therefore preventing the vehicle from rolling.
