Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a)C/P Westward Wind:  In the All-Hands Bathroom is a receptacle less than
three feet
from the sink that was not GFCI protected.  This condition exposed
employees to
possible electrical shock/burns or electrocution when an event of an
accidental contact.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard would be to install a GFCI receptacle or GFCI breaker.
(b)C/P Westward Wind:  In the Galley are five receptacle near the sink
less than three feet
from the sink that was not GFCI protected.  This condition exposed
employees to
possible electrical shock/burn or electrocution when an event of an
accidental contact.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard would be to install a GFCI receptacle or GFCI breaker.
(c)C/P Westward Wind:  In the Factory Fore Peak is a Setpoint Temperature
Control model
SP-32 with a replacement power cord and no strain relief.  This condition
exposed
employees to live electrical conductors with the possibility of electrical
shock/burn or
electrocution when an event of an accidental contact.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard would be to hard wire the system and install a strain relief.
(d)C/P Westward Wind:  In the Dry Storage area (behind the Galley) were 2'
fluorescent
lighting less than 7' from the deck with covers missing.  This condition
exposed
employees to possible electrical shock/burn or electrocution when an event
of an
accidental contact.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard would be install covers.
