Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
a.  Hazards of falls of approximately 18 feet on January 19,
1993, at the Martin Block Company, 290 Twin Oaks Drive in Jackson,
Ohio, when installing facia and sheathing boards upon roof trusses
that were not braced, supported or covered in accordance with safe
engineering principles and practices so as to prevent collapse.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazard is acquiring the services of a qualified
person, such as a registered professional engineer to supervise the
truss erection, the design of temporary and permanent bracing, and
the covering of the trusses.
