Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Saftey and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees were exposed to the hazard of falling to a different level: a) Employees welding metal rafters to a ridge beam more than 20 feet above ground level at buildings 2 and 4 were not provided with fall protection. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is using personal protective equipment, suchas a safety belt and lanyard secured to the ridge beam.
