Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) The hazard of being struck by a collapsing wood roof truss system in
that the trusses at 4230 Pleasant Hill Road site were not adequately
braced to prevent collapse from December 1988 to January 1989.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to
correct this hazard is to install trusses in accordance with Truss Plate
Institute's "Bracing Wood Trusses, BWT-76".
