Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Employees were exposed to the hazard of falls when they worked and traveled to the surface of a corrugated transit roof which was not intended to support and was not capable of supporting the weight of personnel and which was weakened by a crack running across a section of the transite which had not been replaced. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard if to plank over the roof surface where employees are working.
