Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees performing duties near the roof skylights were exposed to falls of 40' to the floor below because of lack of skylight safety structures or guard rails: a) Main Trucking & Rigging Building, Roof Area near five (5) skylights installed on or about 1972: Among other methods feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are to: 1) Install skylight safety structure(s) of such construction and mounting that they are capable of withstanding a load of at least 200 pounds applied perpendicularly at any one area on the safety structure, or 2) Install standard guard railings capable of sustaining a 200 pound load.
