Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: fall hazards a) Sherman Williams Paint Co., building 24 a, column B. Employee was exposed to a 15 ft. fall hazard when column failed because employer did not utilize an adequate anchor rod to secure a steel beam to the pre-existing footing. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard was to utilize a 3/4 in. diameter Hilti "HVA" adhesive anchors, 11 in. long, which was specified by the design architect. Violation occurred on or about 11/4/96d
