Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Applebee Restaurant construction site - future kitchen area; Employee(s) operated a Rigid 300 Pipe Threader that was not equipped with a mandatory moment contact device as required by the American National Standards Institute B208.1-1982, Section 4.4. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to equip the installation of a constant pressure foot treadle switch so that if employee(s) are caught in the equipments rotating parts, the equipment can be easily shut off. Violation occurred on or about 10/30/97.
