Section 5 (a)(1) of the Occupation Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a. On or about April 2, 1998, at the job site located at 3100 S. 54th Avenue, Cicero, IL, employees working in a Genie S-60 aerial lift were not wearing a harness and lanyard to prevent falling out of the basket to the ground. A feasible and useful means of abatement includes, but is not limited to the following action: 1. Ensure that all employees who work in an aerial lift are provided with and use a safety harness and lanyard which is correctly donned and used according to the manufacturers' recommendations.
