Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: Bil-Den Glass - The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazards associated with pressurization explosions. The employer was utilizing PVC plastic piping for the conveyance of compressed air in the facility. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard are as follows: 1) Replacement of the existing plastic piping with an approved compressed air conveyance system. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
