Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burn and explosion hazards from an improperly maintained gas appliance: KITCHEN: SEVERAL BURNERS ON THE GAS STOVE DID NOT PROPERLY LIGHT WHEN THE GAS WAS TURNED ON. THERE WAS EITHER AN UNACCEPTABLE TIME DELAY THAT CAUSED A FLASH OVER OR THEY WOULD NOT LIGHT AT ALL. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO REDUCE/ELIMINATE THE HAZARD IS TO HAVE A QUALIFIED PERSON/COMPANY THOROUGHLY INSPECT THE APPLIANCE AND MAKE ANY NECESSARY REPAIRS TO BRING THE STOVE BACK INTO A SAFE OPERATING CONDITION.
