furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazards associated with serious crushing injuries:
(a) Worksite,employees with the job title of sanitation man who work on
and operate AMREP
INC. side loader sanitation trucks were exposed to the crusher plate and
the hydraulic ram of
the AMREP INC.side loader sanitation trucks.  On or about 07/08/98.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods,one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to:
1.Follow the Ansi.Standard Z245.1-1992 for refuse collecting and
compacting equipment/Safety
requirements. Section 6.1 thru 6.3 which calls for the employer to provide
training before
assigning employees to work on or operate the equipment.
2.Post manufactures operating manuals for employees to familiarize
themselves in the safe
operation of equipment.
A search of the OSHA standards was conducted and there are no applicable
standards.
