Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:being crushed by the loading arms of the Case Skid Steer Loader. (a)Worksite,employee operating a Case Skid Steer Loader Seriel # 17192156,model 1835B was exposed to the hazard of being crushed; on or about 03/22/99. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among others, several feasible and acceptable methods to reduce this hazard are to: 1.Instruct and train employees in the proper use of wearing the seat belt provided. 2. The using of the Skid steer Loader is a recognized industry hazard. Reference ANSI Sae J1388 section 7.1Seat belt requirement on Skid Steer Loaders. A search of the OSHA Standard has been conducted and there are no applicable standards.
