Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At" Administracion de Familias y Ninos", records area, employees performed record keeping duties where the ilumination was inadecuate. Measures was taken in different parts resulting 0, 5, 10, and 15 ftc in almost all the area, when the ANSI/IES RP-1- 1982 recommended 50-200 ftc. Hazard: Blindness, strumbles and falls. Among other correction methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to abate this hazard are: to change the type of lamp to a hight potency, place more lamps in the area, replace the existent damage lamps tubes. En la Administracion de Familias y Ninos, area del archivo, empleados realizaron labores de archivo de expedientes donde la iluminacion era inadecuada. Se tomaron medidas en diferentes partes del almacen resultando 0, 5, 10, 15ftc en casi toda el area, cuando lo recomendado en el ANSI IES RP-1-1982 es de 50 a 100 ftc. Riesgo: Ceguera, tropezones, caidas. Entre otros metodos de correccion, varios metodos posibles y aceptables para corregir este riesgo son: el cambiar el tipo de lampara a uno de mayor potencia; ubicar mas lamparas en el area; reponer los tubos danados de las lammparas existentes.
