Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by an improperly secured truck trailer. (a) Taylor County Landfill-Lot #7: Columbia Low Profile Portable Tipper; Employees are exposed to being struck by trailers falling from the Portable tipper due to a lack of and/or defective restrainer hoops while unloading municipal waste trailers on or about 02/12/98. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard would be to replace and/or repair the restrainer hoops. In addition, regular inspections should be completed on the equipment to ensure that the restrainers are secure and in accordance with the manufacturers specifications. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
