Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling and crushing hazards: (a)West side of Hwy. 30, mile 195.1, Buhl, ID: On October 22, 1997, an employee was observed working to attach metal siding from the bucket of a Case 4x4 front-end loader, (model 580K, product identification number JJ60024272). This exposed the employee to an approximate 12 to 14 foot fall hazard to the ground below. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1.Hoist personnel by the use of an aerial lift platform or man basket. 2.Use a ladder. Note: Abatement certification required for this item.
