Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) Crosslink and Nylon Platforms, employees were working under suspended loads of mold castings weighing 120 lbs. to 170 lbs. when removing molds, cleaning and scraping castings and preparing castings for reuse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to eliminate this hazard is to install support devices to rest casting on during cleaning, preparing and removal operations.
