Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the manlift in the sunflower plant due to the lack of a car enclosure. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install an enclosure on the manlift car. (b) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the manlift in the seed plant due to a spliced rope that was used for operating/lifting on the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install a rope that is not spliced. (c) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the electric manlift in the main plant due to the lack of an interlocking switch on the door to prevent it from opening when the manlift is in operation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install an interlocking switch on the door. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to impact hazards while pulling the rail cars with a payloader using a single nylon rope. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to push the cars or to use a secondary chain/rope connected to the front of the payloader to the railcar to totally secure the car.
